Hackathon – en route to digital transformation with BOGE

The Founders Foundation issued an invitation from 16-18 June to the first OWL Industry Hackathon at the Pioneers Club in Bielefeld. The Founders’ hack brought companies from the region together with the start-up talent of tomorrow. The six challenges from Miele, Boge, Wortmann, Claas, Alcina and Benteler attracted more than 100 applicants, around 60 of whom were able to prove themselves as participants. Pro Challenge consisted of two teams competing against one another with their solutions. They had 36 hours to complete this and were therefore able to call upon the expertise of their company as well as a network consisting of mentors and start-up experts on-site.

The objective was to link real challenges from the company with the spirit of innovation and the agility of young start-up talent and thereby encourage a regional start-up scene. It proved to be a complete success, just like the big pitch day finale at the Bielefeld “Komödie” on Sunday. The 12 teams presented their solutions in a four-minute pitch in front of 300 people in a casual cinema atmosphere, and they made a lasting impression with the jury as well as the audience.

True to the motto “carry on regardless” it is now important to strengthen the connection that has been formed between the teams and companies and therefore bring new partnerships into being. Strong cooperation and synergies may arise from the potential start-ups with the help of the companies.
